The event for young helmsmen, held in Riva del Garda between the 17th and the 21st of April, has seen 1.028 children and youth aged 9 to 15 from 37 different nations participating in the largest single-class regatta in the world – Guinness World Record certified – with the Optimist, the first sail boat made for children.
Kinder+Sport Joy of moving has once again sponsored the event organised by the Fraglia Vela Riva sailing club. As per tradition at all the Kinder+Sport Joy of moving events, also the Fair Play Trophy have been assigned to the athlete who stands above the crowd for the honesty and sportsmanship, and to have completed the tests with courage, determination and fairness, without being discouraged by difficulties. During this edition of the Garda Optimist Meeting, the Trophy was assigned to Paula Pakkala, from Finland, sailing on boat 902.
During the 4 days of the event, Kinder+Sport Joy of moving has also hosted initiatives focusing on the joy of moving, with an area inside the Palameeting Hall at the Riva del Garda Conference Centre, combining physical activity, entertainment and relationship building with the express purpose of stimulating children and youth to enjoy themselves.
