On the 9th of March 2016, Ferrero UK hosted a reception in the Houses of Parliament to share and celebrate the success of Kinder + Sport and Ferrero's commitment to helping children lead active, balanced lifestyles.
Held in partnership with The Football League Trust, the event showcased Kinder + Sport in the UK with a particular emphasis on the flagship + Sport Move and Learn Project.
The reception was held in the Churchill Room of the House of Commons with a 100 key guests in attendance. This included 20 Members of Parliament, five members of the House of Lords and a number of relevant policymakers.
Amongst the many high-profile attendees was the former Foreign Secretary Rt Hon Margaret Beckett DBE MP; His Excellency Ambassador Terracciano, Italian Ambassador to the UK; Olympic Gold Medal Winner Sally Gunnell OBE; and the Food and Retail Sector lead at the UK Government Cabinet Office.
Members of the former Olympic Legacy Committee and the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee were also present.
Over the 2014/15 school year, the + Sport Move and Learn Project moved 21,000 children through 190,000 hours of activity in 350 schools around the UK.
In addition to this, Olympic Gold Medallist Sally Gunnell shared the findings of the ‘Getting Kids Moving' report, a piece of research conducted by Leeds Beckett University on behalf of the UK Kinder + Sport programme. The report focused on the barriers of getting kids moving at home, at school and at play, and urged attendees to remember the equal importance of physical activity – alongside diet – as part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
